Reid Shriver is a Philadelphia-based conductor, pianist, and tenor, enthusiastically advocating for collaboration and a collective-oriented approach in artistic performance. He has collaborated on various contemporary projects, including Sam Mutter’s multi-movement chamber work, Hast thou yet found solace in an ending?, and the choral music used in Mona Benyamin’s short film, Unravel. This summer alone, Reid has served as Cover Conductor with IndependentSounds in Philadelphia, conducted the Vilacello String & Piano Festival Chamber Orchestra, and is beginning a season-long role as Conducting Scholar with the Reading Choral Society. Previously, he was a Fellow in the International Conducting Training Program at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, where he worked closely with Joe Miller and Brett Scott.

Reid completed his graduate studies within the Graduate Conducting Program of the Bard College Conservatory of Music, where he studied orchestral and choral conducting under James Bagwell. He served as Assistant Conductor and Librarian of the Bard College Community Orchestra, and received opportunities to prepare the Bard Chamber Singers and The Orchestra Now for select performances.

A graduate in music education at Temple University, Reid studied voice with Marcus DeLoach, and worked closely with José Luis Domínguez of the Temple University Symphony Orchestra.

As a performer, Reid has sung in numerous engagements with the Philadelphia Orchestra as a member of the Philadelphia Symphonic Choir, performing a wide range of choral repertoire under many esteemed conductors, including Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Riccardo Muti, and Nathalie Stutzmann.

Reid is on Adjunct Faculty as a choral collaborative pianist at Temple University’s Boyer College of Music & Dance, working specifically with the graduate choral conducting students.  He also serves as Director of Music Ministries at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Wilmington, DE, where he oversees the music program and directs select groups.
